Wayne Kern was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1960. He along with his family moved west to California in 1966, where his father continued his pursuit of a musical career. His love of art was apparent at a very early age when his mother discovered that she could keep him busy for hours by simply drawing a flowing line on a piece of paper, and giving it to Wayne to create something from it. |
Growing up in Citrus Heights, California, Wayne apprenticed under local artists Dorothy Cormack and George Kafouras. The four years he spentin New York City in the 80's, and an extended stay in Australia gave Wayne the time he needed to expand and develop his own style, which has come to be known as "one of a kind wire sculpture." Though the medium may vary, the source from which they come is always the same recycled materials from local scrap yards. Over 80% of the finished product was once designated for thr landfill , and has been recycled into uniquely beautiful pieces of art. |
For nearly two decades, Wayne has made art his career. He has "Bent and Twisted" his way into hundreds of homes and offices throughout the Bay Area and Northern California, including numerous shops and local galleries here in Sacramento such as The Crocker Art Gallery, The Phoenix Gallery, and The G Spot. Wayne also did an exposition at the 2002 and 2003 California State Fair. |
